Al-Shabab has impacted this civil war majorly. Without them, this crisis of education probably wouldn't have happened or if it did it would have been much easier to fix because of the rules that Al Shabaab have implemented.  They are the main cause for this civil war. Al Shabaab has prevented aid and relief from reaching Somalis. Extreme droughts making things expensive and have prohibited standard trade from reaching millions. Al-Shabab has made prices for basic needs triple the price. Not long ago, this group implemented rules such as not being able to smoke cigarettes, not being able to watch televised sport, not allowed to be listening to music or even wearing a bra, all deemed “un-Islamic.” They have been fighting the countries Western-backed government for power, so they are able to impose a strict interpretation of the Sharia law. They had power on important ports that were used for shipments and goods and made over 8 million Riyals a month to buy weapons and pay soldiers.

Students who are in school in Somalia because of UNICEF enjoy it so much and do not take it for granted. A child says, “My parents work hard and I want to repay them with good grades. They want school so that they can find a work and make me a respectable lady." “Give# everychild a fair chance to learn.” This one of UNICEF’s mottos that they preach and hope to achieve.
